Two traders murdered in Sivasagar

Sivasagar, June 3: Two persons were chopped to death by unknown assailants here last night.

Sources said the killers fled with cash and gold.

The deceased have been identified as Nur Mohammad Khan and Abul Khan, police said. The duo, who originate from Afghanistan, stayed in a rented house at Babupatty and were reportedly engaged in money-lending business.

Mohammad has been staying in Sivasagar for the past five decades, sources said.

Their blood-splattered bodies were found this morning by a maid who worked part-time in their house.

The police suspect that the duo were killed for movable property kept in the house.

“Going by the circumstances, we suspect the murder was pre-planned,” a police officer said.

Although CCTV was installed in the house, it was switched off at noon yesterday, leading to the suspicion that the murder was pre-planned.

Three machetes were recovered from the site.

Investigations are on.
