LSTV chief sacked

New Delhi, May 31: Outgoing Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar today sacked Lok Sabha TV chief executive Rajiv Mishra, taking one of her last major decisions before stepping down.

Meira’s decision intrigued many. Mishra claimed he had been removed because LSTV had shown the news of Meira trailing from the Sasaram Lok Sabha seat, which she lost. But few seemed convinced by his explanation.

“I was told that Madam was angry that LSTV ran the news that she was trailing from Sasaram,” Mishra said. He alleged that she had also been unhappy with the live telecast of the BJP parliamentary party’s meeting at Parliament’s Central Hall.
