Invite for tea seller

New Delhi, May 26 (PTI): Shahzad Ibrahimi, a doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University who runs a dhaba on its campus, had the “biggest happiness” of his life when he got an invitation to attend Narendra Modi’s swearing-in.

“A chai-wallah has become PM. And he has remembered another chai-wallah to witness it. I am overwhelmed. I am so happy. I cannot describe it,” he said. Ibrahimi, 41, had done his MA, MPhil and PhD from JNU but failed to get a good job and ended up serving tea and snacks on the varsity campus.

The invitation came after a leader of the RLSP, a BJP ally in Bihar, shared his profile with Modi’s office and requested an invite for Ibrahimi. “I hope under Modi, nobody with my academic credentials has to sell tea,” he said.

Paan tribute

Jamshedpur (PTI): A betel shop owner has decided to dedicate a day’s earnings to Narendra Modi and distribute Banarasi paan free of cost to mark the swearing-in.

“The paan being distributed are as good as the paan of Banaras, which the city is famous for the world over,” Khemlal Sahu said. He began distributing paans at 7am and will continue till 8pm.

Asked what prompted him to celebrate the occasion in such a manner, Sahu said Modi had won by a record margin from Varanasi and that people have high expectations from him. Sahu plans to distribute 3,000 paans.
