Leelenjee triumphs

Imphal, May 21: Y. Leelenjee of Manipur moved into the second round of the menís single of the third North East Cash Prize Tournament, 2014, hosted by Manipur Tennis Association at Officerís Club in Lamphelpat.

In the first round of the menís singles, Y. Leelenjee of Manipur beat Suresh N. by 6-1 and 6-1 sets to sail into the second round.

V. Nagi of Nagaland beat Atap of Manipur 6-0, 6-1 to move into the second round as well.

Other players who made it to the second round include defending champion Vilasier Khate of Nagaland, who got a walkover, N. Premjit of Manipur, Zathangliana of Mizoram, Th. Ribashkar of Manipur, Stardiness of Meghalaya, Lalrinawma of Mizoram, T. Brojendro of Manipur, J. Murray of Mizoram, Lucing L. of Manipur, Azad Khan of Manipur, K. Whourie of Nagaland, Kh. Bona of Manipur, Metba of Nagaland and Ramengmawia of Mizoram.

In the menís doubles event, Ramengmawia and his partner Larrinawma of Mizoram beat the Manipur pair of Dilip N. and P. Pritam 6-2, 6-2 to move into the second round as well.

Other winners in the menís doubles events include Leelenjee and N. Premjit of Manipur, Vilasier Khate and Keneisezlie of Nagaland, T. Brojendro and Ribashkar of Manipur, Kh. Bona and Rk. Pritam of Manipur and Th. Tuleshorand N. Kangjamba of Manipur.
