Kings XI Punjab captain George Bailey on Monday hailed the KXIP team management and the owners for picking some promising youngsters like Akshar Patel and Manan Vohra at the auctions.
George Bailey: It was a little tighter today. Some would doubt my move of myself coming lower down the order. But today it proved to be a good move… the youngsters played really well. We wanted to keep the left and right-hand combination going as the ball was spinning a lot and one side of the boundary was short. Surely, the coach and the owners made some smart buys at the auctions.
Kevin Pietersen: It will take a while to get over this loss. We missed out in the last few overs while batting. Also, at the start of their innings, Vohra played well. But such is the format of the game that good balls get hit for six. You can’t do much as a bowler when you bowl on top of the off-stump and it ends up going over extra cover.
Akshar Patel (MoM): My captain trusts me in pressure situations and even I like to do well in such situations. I would like to contribute with both bat and ball. I am here to prove myself.
