Lajong boys leave for Germany

Guwahati, May 19: Shillong Lajong Academy players N. Sana Singh and Wungyam Muirang will represent India in the under-17 FC Bayern Youth Cup to be held at Munich in Germany on May 21.

The national leg of the seven-a-side football tournament was organised by Adidas in New Delhi on February 8 and 9 and a team of 10 boys from the Shillong Lajong FC Youth Academy participated in it.

It was later announced that Sana Singh and Wungyam Muirang have made it to the final squad of 10 players who will be representing India in the finals this month.

The two young and talented boys left Shillong on Sunday and will join the others of the squad in Delhi to proceed to Germany. In the final round of the tournament, hosted by Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich, a total of eight teams from Europe, the US and Asia will participate.

All the participating teams are under going training sessions on May 19 and 20 in the training facilities of FC Bayern Munich under the watchful eyes of the Bayern Munich coaches. After the seven-a-side tournament, the German club has also arranged sightseeing for the young boys on the May 22, before they leave for their respective countries on May 23. The boys will also get an opportunity to visit the Allianz Arena Stadium and meet the under-23 team of FC Bayern Munich.
