Umesh: Got my rhythm correct

Hyderabad/Calcutta: Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir gave a lot of credit to the bowlers for the seven-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad, in Hyderabad, on Sunday.

Gautam Gambhir: I had reacted angrily after I was given out. I wouldn’t have reacted like this had it not been an important match for us. It happened in the heat of the moment. We have three home matches coming up. We haven’t played at home so far this season and we are expecting a lot of support there and will look to keep up the good work.

We are very happy with the way all the players are chipping in with both ball and bat. Uthappa, Yusuf and Ten Doeschate batted really well. I would also like to give special credit to the bowlers, as they were brilliant on such a wicket.

Darren Sammy: We couldn’t put much runs on the board. We did not capitalise on the start and kept losing wickets at crucial times. Towards the end of the innings, we conceded a lot of dot balls and in the end that hurt us a lot. Catches can win you matches and we had dropped a few crucial catches as well. But all is not over for us yet.

Umesh Yadav (MoM): It is my first Man of the Match award so I am really happy. I was bowling well and today I got my rhythm correct. I just tried to get my basics right. I stuck to my plan and I have been working hard. I am happy that my rhythm came back.

Yusuf Pathan: This was a hugely satisfying win because it was an important match. Now that we have won the match, we are firmly on saddle for a place in the qualifiers. What is more heartening is that we are clicking as a team. Our bowling had been good from the very beginning.
