Grant appointed batting coach

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday, appointed Grant Flower as the batting coach of the national team for the next two years.

Grant, the elder brother of former England team director Andy Flower, will join the Pakistan team on August 1, the Board said in a statement. “The chairman of the Board is pleased to confirm the appointment of Grant Flower as batting coach for two years on the recommendations of the coaching committee that included Intikhab Alam, Moin Khan and Haroon Rasheed,” the statement said.

It also said that the new head coach of the team, Waqar Younis, concurred with the decision of the coaching committee to appoint Grant.

Meanwhile, the PCB has also announced pay hikes for its centrally contracted players with effect from January this year. The centrally contracted players would be given a 25 per cent hike in their monthly retainers in all three categories, while Pakistan cricketers’ Test match fees have also been increased by a similar percentage.

The Board also gave the players a 10 per cent increase in ODI and T20 match fees.
