Tinsukia beat Bongaigaon

Guwahati, May 14: Tinsukia today handed a 45-run defeat to Bongaigaon to book a final berth in second Umananda Bora Trophy inter-district under-13 cricket tournament under way at Barsapara cricket stadium here.

Put in to bat, Tinsukia were all out for a modest total of 176 in 37.3 overs. The Bongaigaon batsmen were, however, bowled out for 131 in 37.4 overs.

Abhishek Bhuyan topscored for Tinsukia with a breezy 32, laced with four boundaries, while Bankim Phukan (29, 4x3), Nikhil Verma (22, 4x4) and Riyazuddin Ali (14, 4x1) were the other notable scorers for the side.

Subhadeep Chakravorty of Bongaigaon bagged five wickets for 30 runs and teammate Bishal Roy claimed two for 16. Sandip Paul, Sabir Hussain and Jitumoni Roy picked up a wicket each. In Bongaigaon’s chase, Gautam Sahani scored a brilliant 61 off 74 balls, hitting 11 fours. Subhadeep Chakravorty (17, 4x2) and Umesh Kr Prasad (12) were the other main scorers for the side. Shubham Sharma and Abhishek Bhuyan of Tinsukia bagged two wickets each giving away 18 and 17 runs respectively. Riyazuddin Ali, Rohit Agarwal, Animesh Baruah and Sheik Sahil bagged a wicket each.

Nalbari will meet Sivasagar in the second semi-final tomorrow.
