Morigaon beat Nazira

Guwahati, May 6: Morigaon inflicted an 11-run defeat on Nazira in their match of the 2nd Umananda Bora Under-13 Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Electing to bat, the Morigaon batsmen could only manage 83 runs before being all out in 37.4 overs.

Azizur Rehman, with 18 runs off 34 balls, and Bubu Borkakati with 14 runs off 49 deliveries were the only notable contributors for their side.

Gauranga Kishor Gogoi was the pick of the Nazira bowlers with four wickets in his kitty for 15 runs in seven overs, while Abhishek Debnath scalped three wickets, conceding eight runs in his allotted eight overs.

Munmun Talukdar took two wickets going for 21 runs in his quota of overs while Deepjyoti Singh picked up one wicket giving away 17 runs in 4.4 overs.

In reply, Nazira batsmen fell short of 11 runs as the side went on to be bundled out for 72 runs in 29.4 overs.

Mriganka Mohan Gogoi scored 16 runs off 30 balls while Mriganka Nath contributed 13 runs off 34 deliveries.

Azizur Rehman was the wrecker-in-chief with four wickets for six runs in 7.4 overs while Chand Mohammed and Debasish Bora picked up two wickets each.

Mangaldoi will play Jorhat on Thursday.
