American held at Pak airport with bullets

Karachi, May 6 (PTI): An American national was detained at the Jinnah International Airport here for allegedly travelling with bullets and spying equipment.

According to the Airport Security Force (ASF) officials, Joel Cox was detained after the ASF found 15 bullets of the 9mm pistol along with a magazine were found in his bag, one official said. Cox was travelling to Islamabad from Karachi.

The suspect was handed over to the airport police station for interrogation.

“We have registered an FIR against him and have obtained his remand until May 10 today,” SHO Khalid Mehmood said. US consulate officials said they were following the situation.

“We are aware of the situation that has been reported and we are coordinating with Pakistani authorities to resolve any concerns,” said the spokesman of the consulate.

YouTube ban

The Pakistan National Assembly today adopted a resolution seeking to lift the ban on YouTube, nineteen months after it was blocked for blasphemous content.

The Pakistan People’s Party leader, Shazia Marri, submitted the resolution during today's session. She demanded the lifting of the ban on YouTube which was unanimously accepted by the lower house of parliament.

She said people were using proxy servers to watch YouTube.
