Four players take joint lead

Guwahati, May 2: Bidisha Sarma of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Public School, Rajgarh, Tridev Buragohain of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, Debanga Kalita of Gurukul Grammar School and Amlan Mahanta of Kendriya Vidyalaya, IOC were in joint lead with four points each after four rounds in the 26th P.C. Borooah Children’s Fide-rating Chess Tournament at Shilpgram here today.

Three other players, Uddipta Kakati of Delhi Public School, Shahil Dey of Maria’s Public School and Abhilekha Mahanta of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Rajgarh were breathing down their necks with 3.5 points each.

In the top board, Amlan Mahanta beat Prasurjya Das of Shrimanta Shankar Academy with black pieces and Debanga Kalita beat Lalrinmawia of Govt Middle School, Reiek (Mizoram). Tridev Buragohain beat Anurag Kalita of Mangaldoi Maharishi Vidya Mandir and Bidisha Sarma beat Jigyashdipta Gogoi of Holy Home.

In the third board, former Asian under-5 champion Shahil was held to a draw by Uddipta Kakati and Abhilekha beat Rishita Sinha of St Mary’s English School. Dhanjit Deka beat Tuhin Kashyap of Sampoorna Kendriya Vidyalaya.
