Incredible game of cricket: Watson

The victory, on Tuesday, was hard-earned and Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Watson believes that it may well play a crucial role in deciding whether they manage to make the last-four stage or not.

At the post-match presentation ceremony, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir, however, rued the loss saying his team played “good cricket.”

Shane Watson: It was an incredible game of cricket… The batsmen, as well as the bowlers, of both the teams gave their best. Unfortunately, one team has to come out on top.

We are happy that we won the match. To be able to come on top after such a game is great. It was a great effort from the guys. I’m really pleased with their effort.

It is great to have Faulkner back in form. He is a very key component of our team, like he was last year. Hopefully, he can continue with the form in the future also. This win could be crucial and it could come down to this game to decide if we go through to the last four or not.

Gautam Gambhir: Just before the last ball, we had a chat with the umpires… Shakib-al Hasan told me that since we hit a six in the Super Over, so they might need three runs. But they had hit more boundaries.

It was a great game of cricket. The crowd enjoyed it and we are really disappointed to finish on the losing side.

It’s really difficult to describe how we feel at the moment. We played good cricket in all the five matches and deserved to be in a better position in the table. In all the three games which we ended up losing, I think we were in a good position and could have won those matches. But then, this is what T20 cricket is all about. We have to take the losses in our stride and move on and try to play better cricket in the upcoming matches.

James Faulkner (MoM): I am going to sleep well tonight and I am sure the rest of the squad is going to sleep well too. In all seriousness, this was my first Super Over… I have watched a few in T20 cricket before. I knew we needed to hold our nerves if we were going to win this. And the guys did a brilliant job today. I guess it’s a great to win today. Things are starting to fall in place for me again…

Steve Smith: I’m very happy that we won today. It was a crucial win for us.

It was a really exciting game of cricket… The match was tied and then we also had a tied Super Over.
