Champ, Tiddim in a tie

Imphal, April 29: Champ Khagempalli today managed a tie against Tiddim Road Athletic Union in the Brajabihari Paul and Govind Paul Cricket Trophy 2013-14, which resumed at Luwangpokpa cricket ground here today.

Tiddim Road Athletic Union won the toss and decided to bat. Priyojit Singh topscored with 57 runs off 77 balls. Abdulla fetch 32 runs from 58 balls and Naoba Singh got 14 runs from as many balls to post 140 runs for nine wicket s from 35 overs.

Champ Khagempalli bowler Kenedy Singh picked up four wickets while Sunder Singh claimed three wicket and Jodiba took one wicket.

In reply, Champ rode Robinsonís knock of 45 runs off 47 balls, but he fell too soon.

Champ ultimately posted 140 runs for 10 wicket from 34.2 overs, resulting in a tie.

Tiddim Road bowler Priyojit Singh bagged three wickets while Bobin Singh and Thomas Singh picked up two wickets each. Priyojit Singh of Tiddim Road was named Man of the Match for his 57-run knock and three-wicket haul.

Journalistsí meet: Thoudang Daily beat Poknapham by 2-1 goals to claim the title of the 4th Journalist Sports Meet 2014 at Mapal Kangjeibung today. B. Sanjay Sharma and Kenedy scored the goals for Thoudang while Guna Meitei fetched the lone goal for Poknapham.

Womenís football: Manipur drubbed Chhattisgarh by 22-0 goals in the 20th National Women Football Championship 2014 at Bokaghat, Assam. Ng. Bala topscored with 12 goals while Prameshwori got four, Umabati picked up three goals and Premi, Manda and Dangmei Grace got a goal each.
