Tezpur beat Karimganj

Guwahati, April 22: Tezpur inflicted a four-wicket defeat on Karimganj in their match of the second Umananda Bora Under-13 Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Karimganj could only manage 108 before being bundled out in 33.2 overs. Despite the openers putting up 89 runs in 25.1 overs, the rest failed to put up a competitive total on board.

Tarif Uzzaman scored 29 runs off 66 balls while Nihal Kanti Das chipped in with 18 runs off 90 deliveries. Soubhik Roy with 14 runs off 11 balls was the other notable contributor for his side.

For Tezpur, Parthiv Singh Choudhury and Arif Ali picked up three wickets each while Dinobondhu Payang and Lohit Bohara scalped one wicket each.

In reply, the Tezpur batsmen got past the target losing six wickets in 27.3 overs. Roshan Mishra scored 16 runs off 34 balls while Gunjan Pratim Mahanta and Harshit Joshi remained unbeaten on 14 runs each. Sourav Das scalped two for 32 runs in 6.3 overs while Rituraj Paul, Soubhik Roy, Nihal Kanti Das and Samrat Das picked up one wicket each.

Dhubri will play Tezpur tomorrow.
