Don Bosco boys, Nichols sail ahead

Guwahati, April 18: Don Bosco School and Nichols High School registered wins in their respective matches of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly Inter-School Cricket Tournament organised by the Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre at Nehru Stadium here today.

In the first match of the day, Don Bosco School got the better of Rashtrabhasha Prabhakar Hindi Vidyalaya by two wickets.

Electing to bat, Rashtrabhasha batsmen managed 130 runs before being all out in 23.2 overs. Subham Das topscored with 74 runs off 69 balls, while Subhasish Guha chipped in with 15 runs off 20 deliveries. Aryaman Panghal picked up three wickets going for 21 runs in his 4.2 overs while Rohan Dutta and Shiwang Das scalped two wickets each. Chasing the total, Don Bosco batsmen got past the target losing eight wickets in 22.2 overs. Subham Das picked up three wickets going for 16 runs in his five overs while Pappu Das and Akash Das scalped two wickets each.

In the second match of the day, Nichols High School registered a three-wicket victory over Noonmati English School. Put in to bat, Noonmati boys put up a competitive total of 151 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 25 overs. Arindam S. Roy scored 31 runs off 40 deliveries. Ripom Borah scalped three wickets going for 12 runs in three overs.

Chasing a stiff total, Nichols High School got past the target losing seven wickets in 21.3 overs. Jay Singh rose to the occasion with a fine knock of 52 runs off 49 balls while Chittaranjan Prasad contributed 32 runs off 33 deliveries. Nabanil Sarmah scalped two wickets going for 21 runs in four overs while Nikesh Das picked up one wicket conceding 33 runs in four overs.
