AAP ‘shoot’ video shows Priyanka saying ‘don’t talk like that’

The Aam Aadmi Party candidate in Amethi, Kumar Vishwas, has furnished a video clip that purportedly shows a Congress worker telling Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that he would “shoot” Vishwas.

In the clip, shown to reporters, Priyanka is heard telling the party supporter: “Don’t talk like that.”

Vishwas said he feared a threat to his life and would complain to police and the Election Commission against Priyanka and brother Rahul, the Congress candidate in Amethi. The poll panel office here said it was yet to receive any complaint.

Late on Friday evening, an FIR was lodged against the party supporter, identified as Vinod Sharma, at Gauriganj police station on a complaint by Vishwas. Vishwas sat on dharna on the police station premises, refusing to call off his protest till Sharma was booked.

In the tape, a man is seen stopping Priyanka’s car on a road and alleging harassment by Vishwas and his men. He is heard saying “goli mar denge (will shoot)” if nothing was done about it.

Priyanka is heard saying: “No, no, please don’t talk like that. Come and meet me at the Munshiganj guesthouse.”

This is the second time that a conversation between Priyanka and Congress workers has been filmed and made public by unidentified persons.

Earlier, her comment on cousin Varun Gandhi, BJP candidate from neighbouring Sultanpur, during a closed-door meeting with party workers was leaked. Priyanka, who said Varun had “gone astray”, later clarified she did not regret the statement.

Narendra Rajput, a Congress activist in Amethi, alleged that “spy cams are being rampantly used for blackmail” in the high-profile constituency.

“The video is proof that a conspiracy is being hatched against me,” Vishwas told reporters. He had earlier tweeted: “Close associates of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra threaten to kill me.”

The Congress did not deny that the man in the clip was a party worker. Senior leader Akhilesh Pratap Singh said: “Priyanka Gandhi’s name is unnecessarily being dragged in by Vishwas to create sympathy for himself. Priyankaji was heard asking the man not to talk like that. So how does it become a conspiracy?”
