Eight minors were feared drowned in two separate incidents in Patna district on Friday. Bodies of six of the victims have so far been fished out.

The incident occurred when six boys, aged around 16 years, had gone to take a bath in the river Ganga near Dhibar village under the jurisdiction of Barh sub-division in Patna rural.

While swimming, four of them drowned in the river. The remaining also met a watery grave when they made an abortive attempt to save their friends from being drowned in the river.

So far the bodies of four boys have been recovered and searches were on to trace the remaining two.

“The bodies have been identified as that of Roshan, Dharmendra, Gulshan and Rajiv. Roshan and Dharmendra belonged to the same family,” Nilesh said.

He added: “They were residents of Dhariapur village under the jurisdiction of the Pandarak police station in Patna rural.”

The incident has sent shockwaves among the residents, who thronged the banks of the river to help the divers locate the bodies of the missing boys. The search continued till the filing of the report.

In a similar incident, two boys drowned in a pond located at Gulzarbagh in the Patna City area. The victims have been identified as Vishal (12) and Sunil (13), both residents of Dadarmandi in the Patna City sub-division. The bodies were recovered.
