Maharana triumph

Guwahati, April 17: River Rine Club and Maharana Athletic Club clinched convincing victories in their respective matches of the first Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazarika T-20 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

In the first match of the day, River Rine trounced Titan Club by 75 runs. River Rine batsmen posted a competitive total of 160 runs before being all out in the last ball of their stipulated 20 overs.

Chandan Singha topscored with a quickfire 43 runs off 23 balls, which featured three boundaries and three sixes, while Sanjiv Dutta chipped in with 25 runs off 17 deliveries, which included four hits to the fence and one over the ropes. Bikash Singh was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets to his kitty for 20 runs in his allotted four overs while Munna Narzary bagged two wickets giving away 23 runs in his quota of overs.

Chasing the target, Titan Club batsmen could only manage 85 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated overs.

Dilip Singh scored 22 runs off 23 deliveries while Nabajit Narzary contributed 16 runs off 35 balls. Sanjiv Dutta was the wrecker-in-chief with six wickets for 17 runs in his quota of overs while Vicky Rajak took one wicket conceding 17 runs. Sanjiv was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Maharana Athletic Club eased past Chandmari Club by 61 runs in the second match. Opting to bat, the Maharana boys put up a challenging total of 163 runs for the loss of six wickets in their regular overs. Raju Das scored 39 runs off 28 balls, which included five hits to the fence and one over the ropes, while Fahim Naaz chipped in with 35 runs off 19 deliveries.

Hitesh Adhikary took two wickets going for 26 runs in his quota of overs while Tridip Deka picked up one wicket conceding 14 runs in his allotted overs.

In reply, the Chandmari batsmen managed 102 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated overs. Phatik Barman scored 19 runs off 25 balls while Sanjib Rabha contributed 18 runs off 25 deliveries. Raju picked up two wickets going for 11 runs in his allotted overs. Raju Das walked away with the Man of the Match honour for his all-round performance.

In the last match yesterday, City Cricket Club Red got the better of Sarathi Gusti by 28 runs.
