Book buddies

One group of students wrote while their buddies in another continent drew. The result: four storybooks. The books were jointly brought out by Class I students of Sri Sri Academy in Calcutta and Windmill Primary School, Headington, in the UK, under the Global School Partnership programme of the British Council. The city kids had made the illustrations. The books helped both schools win another grant from BCL. Teachers from both schools can visit each otherís campus. Last year, two from Windmill had come calling for a week. This March, Sri Sri Academy teachers went to the UK.

Ideal class

The Torch of Learning bus ó a mobile innovative classroom travelling across the country ó reached Calcutta recently. An initiative of Mount Litera Zee School, it demonstrated to educators what an ideal classroom setting and teaching method should be. The bus travelled across India for three months to spread the message of inclusive education.
