Security beefed up in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, April 12: Preparations are on in full swing in the Dhanbad constituency with the administration leaving nothing to chance to ensure free and fair polling.

Dhanbad deputy commissioner Prashant Kumar and superintendent of police (SP) Hemant Toppo today visited Government Polytechnic College, from where EVM machines and other materials for the polling are to be dispatched.

A total of 18.65 lakh voters from different parts of Dhanbad and Bokaro districts will elect one of the 31 candidates in the fray on April 24.

The polling will be held at as many as 2,147 booths. Of them, around 100 booths have been declared model polling stations, where voters will have waiting rooms, fans and drinking water facilities.

Moreover, the administration has deployed eight companies of the CRPF to assist the state police to ensure peace in the run-up to the polling.
