Ajoy knocks on EC door

Jamshedpur, April 12: JVM candidate from Jamshedpur Ajoy Kumar today lodged a complaint against the BJP with the Election Commission (EC), accusing leaders of the national party of spreading rumours on caste and communal lines besides using money to influence mukhiyas.

The former IPS officer and sitting MP forwarded the complaint to chief election commissioner V.S. Sampath, state chief electoral officer P.K. Jajoria and East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer for Jamshedpur seat Amitabh Kaushal.

The MP claimed that BJP leaders were planting information in minority pockets of urban areas that the JVM has old connection with their party (JVM chief Babulal Marandi was in the BJP before) and will support their government at the Centre. At the same time, they are spreading rumours in majority pockets that JVM will join hands with the UPA, he added.

“People should not pay attention to such rumours as JVM has principally decided against siding with either the NDA or the UPA at any cost. We don’t lust for ministerial posts at the Centre,” said the former Jamshedpur SP.

The complaint also says that BJP leaders are holding closed-door meetings with mukhiyas to win their support with money.

BJP’s East Singhbhum district spokesperson Anil Modi said: “JVM is making baseless allegations out of desperation as the party knows that we are going to wrest Jamshedpur constituency this time.”
