Silchar vs Golaghat in final

Hailakandi, April 11: Silchar will play Golaghat in the three-day final of the J.K. Baruah Trophy inter-district under-19 cricket tournament at Dibrugarh from April 18.

In the second semi-final, Silchar defeated neighbouring Hailakandi by 10 wickets at Diphu yesterday.

Electing to bat, Hailakandi were packed out for 110 runs in 52.5 overs in the first innings.

Skipper Al-Amin Mazumdar top-scored with 44 runs while teammate Vinay Ruhilla contributed 17. Silcharís Mihir Kanti Deb, Mudit Trigunyat and Prasenjit Sarkar picked up three wickets each.

In reply, Silchar scored 149 in the first innings for a 39-run lead. Jatin Malik and Subhrajit Mallick scored 33 and 28 runs respectively. Hailakandiís Vinay Ruhilla and Pinak Chakraborty took four wickets each while Rumit Rathi captured two wickets.

In the second innings, Hailakandi were all out once again for 112 in 32 overs. Vinay Ruhilla topscored with 36 runs while Silcharís Tushar Kaushik hauled five wickets giving away 26 runs. Mudit Trigunayat scalped three for 28 runs.

Chasing a target of 74 runs for win, Silchar achieved it in 12.2 overs without losing a wicket. Golaghat had defeated Barpeta in the first semi-final.
