Rahul Pamei books final berth

Imphal, April 9: Rahul Pamei today moved into the final defeating S. Bicky by 2-0 sets in the under-20 boys’ category of the first Manipur Tennis League played at IDTA Tennis Complex, Lamphelpat.

The semi-final match saw Rahul getting the better of Bicky 4-1, 4-2 en route to the final. The second semi-final featuring A. Mahesh Singh and Bhusan saw the former sailing into the final with a 4-1, 4-1 win.

In the under-14 boys’ semi-final, N. Derek defeated Th. Rajiv 6-2, 4-6 (10-7) while in the second semi-final, Musha M.M. faced some stiff resistance from Luching Lukram before prevailing with a 7-6, 6-7 (10-8) win en route to the final.

In the men’s category (team event), Manipur Legend defeated L.B. Aces by 2-1 sets. But despite the loss, the latter made it to the semi-final. In the first singles match, Manipur Legend Th. Tule defeated H. Beckar of Aces 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 while in the second singles match, L.B. Aces came back strongly with T. Brojendro humbling N. Kangjamba 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles match saw Manipur Legend’s Tule and N. Kangjamba defeating T. Brojendro and Beckar 6-4, 6-2. Biren Attacker also moved into the semi-final defeating Bobby Rhino by 2-0 sets.

In the veterans’ event, Attacker defeated Rhino by 2-1 sets while Warrior got the better of Biren Attacker by 2-1 sets and K.K. Challenger defeated Warrior by 3-0 sets.
