Naqvi trip cancelled

Silchar, April 8: BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today cancelled his trip to Cachar owing to some “urgent organisational work in New Delhi”. The Cachar BJP had organised a meeting in the Madhurband area. BJP state spokesperson Rajdeep Roy said, “He had to skip the meeting because of urgent organisational affair.” Naqvi also put forward his request to support Kabindra Pur-kayastha, MP and BJP candidate for the poll.

Dry day

Guwahati: The Assam government on Tuesday declared 48-hour dry day from 5pm of April 10 till 5pm of April 12 in view of the second phase of Lok Sabha election in Karimganj, Silchar and Autonomous Hill Districts constituencies in the state on April 12.

Holiday

Guwahati: The Assam government on Tuesday declared public holiday on April 12 in the districts where the second phase of Lok Sabha election will be held on the day. All state and central government institutes, banks, educational institutions will remain closed on the day.

Cases

Guwahati: Congress candidates in both Karimganj and Silchar MP Lalit Mohan Suklabaidya and Sushmita Dev have cases pending against them in different courts.
