Kejriwal attacked, again

New Delhi, April 8: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by an auto driver during a roadshow in the Sultanpuri area of North West Delhi today before party supporters caught hold of the assaulter and thrashed him.

Sources said the attacker, identified as 38-year-old Lali, had previously donated Rs 500 to the AAP but was allegedly unhappy that Kejriwal did not fulfil the promises he had made before the Delhi Assembly polls.

Lali first garlanded Kejriwal before slapping him with all his strength, almost throwing the AAP leader who was in an open jeep off his feet.

After the attack, the former Delhi chief minister sat with swollen eyes and cheek at Rajghat for over an hour, visibly shaken. “I forgive him,” Kejriwal said, breaking his silence almost two hours later.

“My fight is not against individuals, but against the system. If attacking me solves the problems of this country then all they need to tell me is the time and the place and I will be there,” he added.

In less than a month, Kejriwal has been targeted five times. On April 4, Kejriwal was punched by a teen while campaigning in Dakshinpuri, south Delhi. Last month, eggs were thrown at his car and ink was splattered on him and his supporters when he had gone to Varanasi to campaign.

“I do not understand why do some people resort to violence for becoming the Prime Minister,” he said.
