Pollock for AB as Test captain, too

Dhaka: Shaun Pollock has thrown his weight behind AB de Villiers as South Africa’s next Test captain.

AB is already the ODI captain.

“I feel it should be AB, but I’m just another voice... That AB already has the experience of playing 92 Tests is, for me, a huge advantage,” Pollock, a former captain, told The Telegraph.

But why hasn’t an announcement been made about Graeme Smith’s successor?

“That’s because South Africa’s next Test series is still some months away, in Sri Lanka, in July,” Pollock said, on Friday.

Pollock agreed that with Jacques Kallis (available for ODIs only) and long-serving captain Smith gone, a “challenging time” awaited South Africa in Test cricket.

For the record, South Africa are No. 1 in Tests.
