Advani visit on April 7

Cooch Behar, April 4: The BJP announced today that L. K. Advani would fly in here on April 7 to address an election rally in favour of the party’s Lok Sabha candidate, Hem Chandra Barman.

Cooch Behar district BJP secretary Nikhil Dey said Advani, the former deputy prime minister, would address the rally at the Ras Mela Math and then another one in Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri district.

The BJP patriarch will reach Cooch Behar from Delhi in an 18-seater private aircraft. “He will land at the Cooch Behar airport around noon and directly go to the Ras Mela Math and address a huge gathering. He is then scheduled to address another rally at Maynaguri that is just 10 minutes from here by car,” Dey said in Cooch Behar.

The BJP district secretary said the permission for the meeting had been granted by the district administration.

“There is tremendous enthusiasm among workers as Advaniji will visit Cooch Behar for the first time since 1992 when he came down during our movement over the Teen Bigha corridor. We are certain that his visit will doubly ensure that our candidate wins from Cooch Behar,” he said.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee and state Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury are also scheduled to address meetings in Cooch Behar constituency next week.
