Seasoned campaigners, Sibsankar Roy (53) and Abu Nechim Ahmed (4/21), were the men behind Assam’s victory, which strengthens their position in the zone. While for Tripura, the result spelt the end of their campaign with Friday’s game against Bengal reduced to a dead rubber.

In reply to Assam’s 152, Tripura were restricted to 141 for eight.
