People want change: Mooshahary

Kokrajhar, March 31: Former Meghalaya governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, the Trinamul Congress candidate from Kokrajhar, filed his nomination papers here today.

Mooshahary, who is contesting election for the first time, was accompanied by his wife and a few supporters.

“People want change and only R.S. Mooshahary and Trinamul can do it (bring change) and people will vote for me,” he told reporters.

The former BSF director-general and Meghalaya governor said the BTAD was not safe in the hands of the present government and people want change. “There are regular incidents of kidnapping, killings, extortions, strikes in Bodoland region. There is no peace for which development has taken a back seat,” he said.

On his decision to join the Trinamul, he said: “The Trinamul Congress is the most honest party at present and Mamata Banerjee is the most honest politician.”

Mooshahary said he was far ahead of his competitors. He said he had already started campaigning in the area and was getting wide support from the people.
