First-innings lead for Hojai boys

Hailakandi, March 21: Hojai took a 43-run first innings lead against Dhubri on the first day of their two-day JK Baruah Trophy inter-district (under-19) cricket tournamentís Hailakandi zone match at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium here today.

Dhubri were bundled out for 98 in 44.5 overs in the first innings. In reply, Hojai were all out for 141 in 43 overs in the first innings. Dhubri were 10 for no loss in two overs in the second innings at the end of play.

Washim Ahmed topscored for Dhubri with 31 (4x4) in the first innings and Pankaj Kumar Yadav chipped in with 17. Shamim Ahmed of Hojai hauled four for eight runs while Vishal Upadhyay and Sunil Chauhan took three wickets each.

Pritam Bagta topscored for Hojai with 38, hitting six fours and Abhay Ghosh contributed 29 (3x4). Mahin Choudhury and Jagjit Roy took the scalp of three wickets.
