Skills training for placement

Guwahati, March 21: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati is planning to collaborate with institutions and business houses across the country for placement of trainees through a skills development programme in jewellery designing and gemstone polishing.

The 90-day programme was inaugurated at the institute here today by N.R. Deka, general manager (administration and PR), Oil India Ltd.

“IIE shall conduct a field visit to Jaipur during the programme to collaborate with institutions and business houses for placement and incubation of new start-ups. A collaboration with Indian Institute of Jewellery, Mumbai, and Centre for Development of Gems and Jewellery for placement of the trainees is in the pipeline,” Sriparna B. Baruah, the programme director, said today.

Sixty trainees from Tinsukia and Dibrugarh district are attending the programme.

According to an MoU signed with IIE in December last year, Oil India, as a part of its corporate social responsibility, has agreed to extend financial assistance for entrepreneurship education, skill development training programmes, livelihood clusters and solar solution initiative for a period of five years in the Oil operational areas.

IIE Guwahati has agreed to implement the activities under the umbrella of a distinct entity named Centre for Sustainable Livelihood Promotion (CSLP).
