TB tackle plan soon

Dr Diwakar Tejaswi on Friday said Rotary Pataliputra Club would soon start a tuberculosis elimination programme.

According to latest data of Revised National TB Control Programme published in 2011, there are 76,484 registered tuberculosis patients in Bihar.

Sharing this information with the audience, he said: “Bihar is among the states, which have the highest prevalence of TB. There is a need of proper awareness.

“Four to five per cent of cases are found to be multi-drug resistant while 17 to 20 per cent of retreated and relapsed cases are found to be same,” he added.
