AAP candidate slams Ajmal

Dhubri, March 20: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for Dhubri Lok Sabha seat, Ajmal Hussain, criticised sitting MP Badruddin Ajmal stating that he failed to implement any development schemes in the area.

Hussain told reporters on the Lalmil premises here today that during his five-year tenure as MP, Ajmal neither raised any issue affecting the people in Parliament nor utilised his MP area development funds for any development.

“As a result of this, 80 per cent of the funds remained underutilised. This is gross injustice to the people who had voted for him. But he has failed to serve the people,” Hussain said.

Replying to a question on the prevailing corruption at all levels, Hussain said his party would fight graft.

“We are here to fight against the corruption and the existing system in which common people have no say. We elect our representatives for five years and they do not look back to know our problems,” Hussain said.

He said there were some major problems afflicting the Dhubri and Goalpara districts like lack of communication, power crisis, erosion, which already displaced lakhs of people over the past 20 years.

Hussain said unlike Ajmal who lived in Nagaon, being a person who stayed here he understood the problems of these areas and would chalk out plans to solve them.

The party launched its campaign in the villages of Dhubri and Goalpara district today.
