FIRs for model code violation

Jamui/Munger, March 20: Tarapur block development officer S.D. Singh on Wednesday evening registered an FIR against JD(U) candidate Uday Narayan Chaudhary for violating the Election Commission’s model code of conduct.

According to the FIR registered at Tarapur police station, Chaudhary organised a road show in the block on Wednesday without taking prior permission or even informing the local administration.

Singh alleged in the FIR that the motorcade of the candidate created traffic snarls and people had to face immense difficulty in commuting. Along with Chaudhary, several other JD(U) leaders were made co-accused in the FIR.

“After closely observing the video footage taken by the local administration, more persons could be made accused in the case,” an officer at Tarapur police station said.

In another case, two FIRs were registered at Haveli Kharagpur police station on March 18 against LJP leader Surajbhan Singh and his supporter Satyaprakash for organising a road show in Haveli Kharagpur.

Surajbhan had put up the show in favour of his wife and the LJP-BJP candidate, Bina Devi, contesting from the Munger Lok Sabha seat.

According to Haveli Kharagpur police station house officer Rajeev Kumar, the LJP leader did not take permission for the event and the show triggered traffic chaos at the Kharagpur market area.

He added: “In another case, an FIR was registered against BJP district president Kumar Pranay after the police recovered a poster at Goshala market in Kharagpur.”
