Tripura candidates file papers

Agartala, March 19: The Trinamul and BJP candidates for West Tripura seat filed their nominations today before returning officer Abhishek Singh, who is also the district magistrate.

Trinamul candidate and party chairman Ratan Chakraborty and BJP president Sudheendra Dasgupta led processions through Agartala before filing their papers.

The IPFT’s candidate Benoy Debbarma and the Tripura Gramin Vikash Congress’s Subal Bhowmik also filed their papers today.

The process of filing nominations for the West Tripura seat will end tomorrow and the papers will be scrutinised on March 22. The last date of withdrawing nominations is March 24.

The Congress candidate for West Tripura, retired professor Arunoday Saha, will file his papers tomorrow.

Additional chief electoral officer Dulal Chandra Das said the process of filing nominations for the East Tripura (ST) seat would commence tomorrow and end on March 26.
