‘Tease’ clashes leave 11 injured

Eleven persons were injured in the wake of violence after an alleged incident of eve-teasing involving residents of Jharia Vihar Colony and adjoining Palany village in Baliapur block of Dhanbad since Tuesday evening.

Trouble brewed around 4pm when some youths from Palany reportedly misbehaved with one Rambabu Singh’s sisters at the colony’s main entrance in Belgarhia.

Rambabu informed his friends who later caught four suspects — Vikram Singh, Adhir Singh, Banti Singh and Mukesh Singh — when they were biking back to their village from Dhanbad at 6pm.

Colony residents thrashed the youths. Villagers admitted them to Baliapur primary health centre from where they were released after first aid.

Palany panchayat mukhiya Jethu Mahto said: “We lodged a complaint against colony residents with Baliapur police on Tuesday night.” Colony residents, however, their sisters were teased on Tuesday and they were beaten by Palany villagers on Wednesday.

Sindri DSP Ramashankar Singh said both groups were at fault. “We called a peace meeting of elders of both groups,” he said.
