Bengal youth falls off train

Jamshedpur, March 15: A youth headed to Bengal from Mumbai fell off the train just as it was chugging into Ghatshila station and sustained serious head injuries today.

Lovely Sheikh (25), who hails from Shyampur in Bengal’s Howrah, has been admitted to MGM Medical College and Hospital.

Assistant sub-inspector of railway police S. Ram said the victim was travelling via Kurla-Howrah Express. “The train was entering Ghatshila station around 7.30am when he fell on the tracks of platform No. 3,” he added.

Police found a railway ticket, Rs 50 and a piece of paper with some cellphone numbers from Lovely.

Lovely’s uncle Sheikh Asgar turned up at the hospital on getting the news. “It may have happened that he was standing on the train’s footboard and fell down or someone might have pushed him,” said Asgar, who works in a jewellery shop at Bistupur.
