City club beats hosts Maharana

Guwahati, March 13: City Cricket Club clinched a five-wicket victory against hosts Maharana Athletic Club in a first-round encounter of the Suren Ram Phookun Maharana Centenary Prize-money Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

City won the toss and opted to field. Maharana were all out for 126 in 34.4 overs, courtesy a devastating spell of bowling by Bhaskar Bora of City who bagged four for 19. The City batsmen reached 130 for five in 29.4 overs.

Raju Das topscored for Maharana with a steady knock of 47 (3x4) while Pritam Das contributed 27 (3x4, 1x6).

Apart from Bhaskar Bora, Raj Agarwal scalped two wickets for 36 runs.

For City, Harmeet Singh was the topscorer with an unbeaten 25 (3x4) while Suhel Rahman scored 24.

Bikram Chetry of Mahanrana bagged three wickets for 30 runs.

There is no match tomorrow.
