Imphal West emerge winner

Imphal, March 13: Imphal West emerged champions of 17 Sub-Junior Boys Inter-District Football tournament, defeating Bishnupur district by 3-0 goals today at Khuma Lampak football ground.

L. Monish scored the first goal of the tournament in the 51st minute.

He collected a deflection from the Bishnupur goalkeeper N. Nongpoknganba and converted it into the first goal of the match. The Bishnupur goalkeeper could not collect the powerful shot from Kh. John.

Bishnupur tried hard to neutralise the goal but Sh. Netrajitís two goals in the 64th and 80th minutes sealed the fate of Bishnupur.

Netrajit collected a supply from L. Rocky who was at the left flank and pushed the ball into the goal without much effort. Netrajit scored the second goal by breaking the Bishnupur defence line.

Four players of the Imphal West were cautioned for rough play. They are N. Dingko (14th minute), Sh. Netrajit (40th minute), Th. Vishwamitra (72nd minute) and K. Jim (52nd minute)

N. Herojit of Bishnupur was also cautioned at the 64th minute.
