CM class for Dev

The VIP lounge of Calcutta airport turned into a classroom on Tuesday afternoon as Mamata Banerjee assumed the role of a teacher and gave a 30-minute lecture to Dev before taking a flight to Delhi.

Dev, contesting the Lok Sabha elections on a Trinamul ticket from West Midnapore’s Ghatal, could not attend a session on Friday where Mamata laid out a list of dos and don’ts for party nominees.

Mamata, sources said, on Tuesday repeated some of the suggestions she had given the other Trinamul nominees on Friday.

“I believe Sandhyadi, Dev, Moon Moon, Indranil, Soumitra — all of them are going to win…. I have fielded Dev because I know he will win by a big margin. Other parties nominating celebrity candidates is an eyewash. They do not give tickets in winnable seats,” Mamata said.

Dev said he was happy to have been selected as the candidate from Ghatal.

“I studied in a school in Chandrakona (near Ghatal) for three years…. I am very happy…. I am here to motivate the youth, who are the future of the country but are not bothered about either elections or the government,” he said.
