Praise for Paliwal

Calcutta: Services found a hero in Man of the Match Rajat Paliwal on Monday, and captain Yashpal Singh was effusive in his praise for the 23 year old.

Paliwal (112) and Yashpal (81) shared a fourth-wicket stand of 195 that paved the way for their thrilling one-wicket win against Vidarbha.

“He is a special talent. His century came at a great time for us. I shared an important partnership with him. He did extremely well today,” Yashpal said about Paliwal after the match, at the Jadavpur University Campus ground.

Terming the match as a tough encounter, he said: “In the knockout stage, you can’t expect any easy outings. All matches will be tough. I am happy to win a good one here. We did want to chase, and that went in our favour.”

The captain maintained that all teams in the knock-out stage expect a tough fight.

“We didn’t start well but then we fought back through my partnership with Paliwal.”
