Assam cops top tally

Kokrajhar, March 10: Assam Police topped the medals tally in the 11th All-Assam Senior Men and Women’s Inter-district Archery Championship that concluded at Runikhata High School ground in Chirang district yesterday.

Assam Police bagged nine medals, including five gold, two silver and two bronze, followed by Kokrajhar with four gold, two silver and two bronze and Northeast Frontier Railway with three gold, two silver and one bronze. Tamulpur bagged two gold and one bronze while Karbi Anglong won three silver and a bronze and Sivasagar earned a silver. Baksa bagged a silver and Bhergaon tallied three bronze medals. On the concluding day, state transport minister Chandan Brahma and BTC speaker Paniram Brahma attended the presentation ceremony. Altogether 100 archers from across 10 districts of the state — Kokrajhar, Sivasagar, Guwahati, Karbi Anglong, Chirang, Tamulpur, Bhergaon — participated in the championship that got under way from Friday.

The championship was organised by Chirang District Archery Association in association with Archery Association of Bodoland under the aegis of Archery Association of Assam.
