8 rebels held, arms seized

Ranchi, March 10: Police arrested eight rebels and seized huge caches of arms and ammunition from different parts of Khunti, Palamau and Ranchi districts today.

Ranchi police raided Angara and Sonahatu areas and arrested four persons. Also, the police seized a carbine, a pistol, cartridges and a can bomb during the raids.

In Palamau, police nabbed CPI(Maoist) sub-zonal commander Ankit Yadav, alias Girendra, from Kekargarh village following a tip-off. A semi-automatic pistol and cartridges were recovered from him.

On the basis of inputs given by him, police arrested Sahid Ansari.

In Khunti, police arrested PLFI sub-zonal commander Jitendra Patar Munda following an encounter on the banks of Tazna river in the afternoon.
