Noose & mishap shockers

A bright young BBA student of BIT (Lalpur extension) in Ranchi hanged herself in her hostel room on Friday morning, while a matric examinee in Bokaro who went for a celebratory swim with friends at Tenughat dam after answering his last exam, was feared drowned in the afternoon.

Samita Kumari (21), a part II BBA student of the premier institute, used her dupatta as her noose to hang herself from ceiling fan of her room at Capital Hostel, PN Bose Compound, under Lalpur thana area.

A frantic girl called hostel Sambhu Prasad Gupta at 7am, saying there was no response from Samita’s room despite repeated knocks. Gupta broke opened the door and saw the hanging body.

Lalpur police station OC Shailesh Prasad confirmed the suicide. “We found a note from her room, which said ‘I am sorry to all’. The body has been sent for post-mortem at RIMS,” Prasad said.

He added so far no reason for the girl’s suicide had surfaced. “We have registered a case of unnatural death and are probing why she took the extreme step,” he said.

The tragic news has been sent to the girl’s father B.K. Singh, a resident of Urja Nagar, Mahagama block in Godda.

In Bokaro, till reports came at sundown, police and a team of local divers had not yet succeeded in recovering the body of 16-year-old matric examinee Shubham Kumar from Tenughat dam .

Son of Jaina More resident Suresh Karmali, Shubham knew swimming. He and a few of his friends, decided to chill out at the dam, 45km from the city, after answering the last paper of the Class X JAC board exam at Petarwar High School.

The boys set off after the paper ended at 3pm.

Four friends waded inside the dam. However, Shubham who went in a bit deeper, soon went down under.
