Morigaon fight back, score 271

Guwahati, March 5: Morigaon today put up a strong fightback to pile up 271 for eight in 87 overs in their first innings against Bongaigaon’s 300 all out on the second day of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district plate group cricket tournament final.

Playing at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here, Bongaigaon resumed at the overnight 293 for six before getting all out for 300 in 97.5 overs this morning. Rajmoni Ahmed of Morigaon hauled five wickets for 45 runs and Mantu Boro chipped in with two for 25.

Morigaon lost opener Jibon Barman for nought but the second wicket tandem of Nabajyoti Nath (53, 9x4) and Nipjyoti Gohain (69, 11x4) consolidated the innings with 93 runs before Nath was trapped leg before by Fazlur Washim.

Rajmoni Ahmed contributed a useful 31 (2x4) and lower middle order batsmen Pabitra Patar and Sahidur Rahman chipped in with 28 (3x4, 2x6) and 23 (2x4, 1x6) respectively. Tailenders Manashjyoti Deka and Mantu Boro were batting on 20 (3x4, 1x6) and seven respectively at the draw of stumps.
