Spurned lover FIR

A 22-year-old girl on Monday lodged an FIR with MGM police station, alleging she was “sexually exploited” by a city youth working in Dubai, the charge coinciding with his wedding day.

According to the girl, the accused, Abdul Mehtab (26) and resident of Road No. 14 at Jawaharnagar in Mango, came to marry a girl from his own community. But before getting into wedlock, he befriended her and had sex with her twice since February 17.

The complainant said Abdul promised to marry her. Till reports last came in, the youth married neither his fiancée nor his girlfriend.

According to the FIR, the girlfriend, a Burmamines resident, met Abdul last year at a friend’s home in Jawaharnagar. This female friend introduced the girl to Abdul, her cousin. And even though Abdul left the city to work in Dubai soon after the meeting, the two stayed in touch over the phone regularly.

In the FIR, the girl said when Abdul came to Jamshedpur in February, he asked her to meet him at Jubilee Park.

On February 17, Abdul met the girl at Jubilee Park and convinced her to go along on his bike and then took her to at an isolated place near Dimna Lake in the evening where the two had sex.

“As Abdul promised to marry me, I did not object. Even on February 19, he took me to Dimna Lake where he raped me. I noticed change in his behaviour when I went over to his house in Jawaharnagar on February 27 and pressed him to marry me, but he straightaway refused,” the girl, who has completed her intermediate, said in the FIR.

She mentioned she now has no option but to knock the door of the police.

In this connection, the MGM police station registered a case of rape against Abdul on the basis of the FIR.
