Examinees injured

Tamluk, Feb. 28: Ten East Midnapore students on way to write their Madhyamik history paper were injured today when the car ferrying them to the test centre hit a tree while trying to make up for lost time.

While nine students were admitted to a health centre in Khejuri with minor injuries and wrote their paper later in the afternoon from their beds, a 16-year-old girl suspected to have suffered an internal haemorrhage was referred to Contai sub-divisional hospital for a CT scan.

The 25-year-old driver, Nanda Sau, died on the spot.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the “seriously injured” girl would be allowed to take her test after she recovered.
