Rahul plea for inclusive growth

Guwahati, Feb. 25: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today appealed to sportspersons of Assam to excel in sports as well as in academics for all-round development.

Interacting with trainees at a coaching camp organised by the directorate of sports and youth welfare at Sarusajai sports complex here, Rahul felt it was necessary for the younger generation to maintain a balance between sports and studies for development. I would love to see you excel in studies, along with sports, so that you grow up to be perfect citizens, he said, emphasising the importance of sports in human resource development.

He met all 204 participants and 20 coaches in the 10-discipline coaching camp that started yesterday and will continue till March 10. Rahul was accompanied by former sports minister Ajay Maken, chief minister Tarun Gogoi and state sports minister Ajit Singh. The camp is being organised for the disciplines of athletics, archery, football, fencing, boxing, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, swimming and tennis.
