Navajyoti beat GTC by 7 wickets

Guwahati, Feb. 19: Navajyoti Club clinched a seven-wicket victory over Gauhati Town Club to enter the final of the Servo 21st Guwahati Challenge Trophy All Assam Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

Opting to bat, GTC batsmen put up a total of 154 runs before being bundled out in 39.2 overs. In reply, Navajyoti played with ease to get past the target losing three wickets in 30.2 overs.

Deep Bora scored 31 runs for GTC while Mrigen Talukdar chipped in with 30 runs off 31 deliveries. Nitin Das scored 26 runs off 68 balls. Avoy Yadav picked up three wickets conceding 34 runs in seven overs while Kon Urang and Nipon Deka scalped two wickets each.

Abhijit Singha Roy topscored for Navajyoti with an unbeaten 51 runs off 35 deliveries while Hrishikesh Tamuli remained not out on 32 runs off 40 balls. Alakesh Das chipped in with 28 runs off 54 deliveries. Sujit Gowala scalped two wickets conceding 32 runs in six overs while Dhimanjyoti Das picked up one wicket going for 16 runs in 5.2 overs. Abhijit walked away with the Man of the Match honour.

Bud Cricket Club will play Navarang Club in the second semi-final tomorrow.
